Mobile phones have come a long way in the past decades. Even just within the past five years, cell phones have become a hub for all social networking and media, as most come already equipped with social media applications, music and video capabilities, and Internet access.

Apple took the cell phone world by storm in 2007 with the introduction of the iPhone, one of the fastest selling electronic devices in the world. It combined a popular MP3 player with a phone, giving customers the sense that their phones could truly do it all. Prior to this, the most popular Smartphone were those made by Blackberry, which have now been criticized as being too bulky and running slowly.

Microsoft has tried to keep up with Apple’s market, introducing phones that will run the latest version of Windows. Android is another platform competitor, and top electronic brands such as Samsung and HTC have loaded this software onto their Smartphones. Some argue that Android offers more applications than Apple, but iPhone users are often loyal to the brand and will stick with the same platform across all of their electronic devices.

Smartphones have incorporated the idea that a phone can be all a person needs in order to stay connected, whether that is in a business or personal sense. Facebook and Twitter are some of the most popular apps for all mobile users, so individuals can stay in touch with friends and family on the go. Email, Internet browsers, and calendars come standard on most phones, allowing for easy organization. Having a Smartphone is basically a must these days, and millions of users have upgraded.

We’ve Come a Long Way in Portable Technology

The technology of portable data storage devices has advanced significantly over the past 50 years in a way that is unquantifiable for almost any other technology advance in the same time period. For instance, when hard disk drives were introduced in 1956, they were the size of a double refrigerator and could only hold about 2 megabytes worth of data. Nowadays, you would be hard pressed to find any device that had just 2 mb worth of data – the smallest commercially available flash drive in the world (smaller than the size of a quarter) holds at least 2 gigabytes – that’s more than two thousand times the amount of data that the double sized refrigerator held just 50 years ago.

Size isn’t the only thing that has changed when it comes to being able to take our data anywhere we go. The market for novelty storage devices continue to grow every year and are marketed to a wide range of subcultures, showing that the need for portable data storage is near universal. Pens, bracelet, cars and other toys can all masquerade as portable flash drives.

Finally, the future of portable data is closer than you think. Some technology insiders are predicting that the next big breakthrough in portable technology will be the touch-screen hard disk drive. The touch HDD would act as a regular portable data drive in its ability to connect to your computer either through wireless signal or being plugged in, but it would also have a touch screen that would allow it to scroll through pictures and play both movies and music without a separate computer screen.

I AM A SOFTWARE JUNKIE

To the chagrin of my husband, I remain a “software junkie”.  At some point  in time, someone must have coined that phrase, because that is what I am and have been for quite a long time.  My computer has been locked up, crashing, and driving us literally insane for the last six months.  WHY?  In my head, I have known that some super-software has been fun to watch driving demons from my computer.  I watch this wonder in action every time I “boot up”.  Today, it is gone.  UNINSTALLED.

Hereto, deep in my mind, I realized it was interfering with my anti-virus software….So what did I do?  I threw caution to the wind, and kept updating this “free” software. It was a “rush” to watch it wipe out little computer assassins whenever I chose to run it.

Spyware Remover – Choosing the right Software

Maybe technology, the Internet and downloads are our foes of the future.  They make their visuals, their downloads and their software just so enticing.  Why labor over a bunch of machinations when you can install simple, free software to do the trick?

There is nothing that you cannot learn via “You Tube” or “Google”.  Is this a good thing or bad?  Well, I can only tell you from personal experience – prior to this I bought a TON of “Expert” Software programs.  Now I simply download the program I feel I must have from the Internet. Invariably, my computer is frozen while my husband whistles on with his emails….

Securing Your Computer

Most people overlook the importance of providing a security system for their computer. Many times we hit the web running, without a second thought of how to assure that our computer is kept safe from harm. Having antivirus software installed on your computer is essential to keeping it running at its optimum capabilities.

The Internet is built on information. By ensuring your computer is properly secure, you will be able to better protect your own information from theft or file corruption. If you enjoy frequent downloading, be sure and keep your security system up to date. It’s important to be proactive and stay on top of upgrading your security software as new versions are available. Updates not only provide you with a latest version of the software, but they also tend to strengthen any weak points the previous version may have encountered.

Allow your computer a security system with antivirus and anti-spyware. Another aspect to forming a security net for your computer is by implementing a firewall system. Some types of security software will prompt you with a warning when you attempt to visit a potentially damaging site. By ensuring that your computer is properly secure, you can go about your Internet activities with ease. By providing a security system for your platform, you can feel better about downloading files or visiting your favorite site for online casino games. Some types of security software enable its users to encrypt important files or even encrypt an entire drive. You can set the software to automatically scan your entire computer on a regular basis to detect any abnormalities that shouldn’t be allowed access to your system.

Audio Recording Software for Musicians

Most computer users have copies of WinAmp, iTunes and Windows Media Player to listen to music. These programs allow them to play audio files through their computers. Serious audiophiles, however, often turn to other programs, especially when they want to record sound digitally. By exploring some of the other audio programs available, you can choose an option that suits your needs best.

Recording Digital Audio

Audio recording and editing software has revolutionized the way that people make music. Home studios take advantage of every trick that software can offer. Even large studios, however, rely on some of the same software that amateur musicians use in their homes.

Some of the most popular programs are also the best. Garage Band is an excellent program for Mac users that want faithful digital recordings. This program also allows musicians to add effects to sounds. That way you can control a guitar’s gain or a vocalist’s volume.

Windows users should consider Audition. Audition is an audio recording program made by Adobe. Like Garage Band, it gives you full control over sounds. The virtual mixing boards that come with the latest versions of Audition function just like analog mixing boards. A large amount of plug-ins allow musicians to alter sounds without the use of pedals and processors.

Free Audio Recording Programs

Even if you are looking for free audio recording software, you still have several options to choose from. Audacity is a simple, bare bones audio recorder that records sounds faithfully. It doesn’t offer much in the way of sound manipulation, but it does allow you to edit music easily. This program basically offers the same options as early Tascam 4-track recorders. You can, however, add a nearly infinite number of tracks to any recording with Audacity.

No digital recording software can work well without good hardware. Make sure you have a reliable sound card or audio interface and several microphones that record your instrument’s sound faithfully.

Software Downloads are Big Business

When it comes to doing well online and making money selling a product or service, offering software is one of the best ways to see success. There are a lot of companies out there that offer software, too, and they aren’t all good to use. Most people try to get software from the original manufacturer, but they can end up changing their mind and looking for something that costs less money when they see the cost of it. Of course, not all manufacturers charge a lot for their software. It often depends on the company and the kind of software that they’re offering.

If you’re good at creating software, and you can offer people something that they don’t already have – or you can do it for a lower price – you might want to get involved with software downloads that you can sell. When you can do something that doesn’t cost a lot, more people will be interested in it because it’s cheap. If they don’t like it, they haven’t spent much money on it, and they’ll be more likely to feel all right about that. Taking a gamble (and losing) isn’t nearly as upsetting when you haven’t gambled much at all.

People can make a lot of money off of software downloads by becoming an affiliate, too. Not all companies offer that option, but some of them do. If you find a company that does offer an affiliate option, you can check into that and see if there is a way you can make money from selling that company’s software. The percentage that you get could vary between companies, so take the time to explore the choices that you have and see which ones are the best for you. Then you’ll be able to make the most from selling software downloads.

How to Quick-Rip with Windows Media Player

Windows Media Player 12

Using Windows Media Player it is possible to do a “quick rip,” but only if the AutoPlay menu appears when you insert the disk into the DVD/CD drive of your computer. One of the options in this AutoPlay menu says “Rip Music From CD” and when you select this it is going to automatically launch the Windows Media Player, bringing up the “Rip Menu.”

Make sure to uncheck the box that says “Always Do This …” so that the menu is not automatically launched every time a CD is inserted into your computer.

Click on “Start Rip” in order to begin the ripping process. You will also be given an option to use your Internet connection to find details about the CD so that you do not have to manually input song details. The “Rip Status” will read “Ripped to Library” on each song once the ripping process is completed.

As a default setting, the Windows Media Player software is going to rip all of your songs to the WMA format, and will save them automatically into your default Music folder. You can access this folder by clicking on your Windows Logo and then clicking on “My Music.” This can differ slightly depending on what version of Windows you are using.

If you did not have the software input data about your CD songs during the ripping process, then the songs are likely to be in an “Unknown Artist” folder, which is why it is recommended that you use your Internet connection to find information about your music before the files are ripped onto your computer. Keep this in mind when you are ripping CDs, because it tends to be easier to have the information populated into your track files automatically rather than having to do it by hand afterwards.

Faster Software Downloads with BitTorrent Technology

If you have been using the Internet for any length of time, you have probably heard of BitTorrent. However, most people do not fully understand what BitTorrent is, and as such, do not know how BitTorrent technology can help their small businesses. The word “BitTorrent” refers to many things: it is the name of the peer-to-peer communication protocol, the software much like Ares Galaxy that accomplishes that action, and the name of the company  responsible for the design and the creation of the technology.

BitTorrent essentially makes downloading extremely large files over the Internet possible and much less painful than it normally would be. The reason behind this is the BitTorrent client. The client is first downloaded from the BitTorrent website. That client helps to turn the receiving computer into a source, as well as a receiver. The more computers with the BitTorrent client who are in the process of downloading the software, the faster the download will actually work. This is the direct converse of normal downloads, which can get overworked and bogged down with too much simultaneous activity.

Using BitTorrent and other software like aresgalaxy can help companies distribute multiple-user licensed software that is purchased, their own proprietary and in-house developed programs, and any other large media files. This delivery method is much faster than having an IT professional install applications on each machine, and much more efficient than asking individual users to install from a disc or normal download method. The software in question can be designated for only certain users to download by control of the related torrent file. It is extremely important that the torrent file be protected in order to maintain control of the larger data files. There are currently a number of companies, organizations and governments currently using BitTorrent technologies and other file sharing technology like Ares, including gaming software giant Blizzard, Facebook, Twitter, and the UK government. The potential uses for this technology are indeed endless.

Software and Technology Combine to Make Handheld Devices Limitless

it's real :)

The advancements in technology in the past have led to vast improvements in quality of life. Even in the distant past, up to the Industrial Revolution, the changes were significant, but today almost all of the changes in technology have to do with digital innovations. Even the development of new products is a result of new software being developed. The availability of software itself, and how it can be downloaded, is a technological innovation of its own.

A computer, or any mobile device, contains software. This can range from the device’s operating system to video games. Software can also include apps that range from games to programs that compliment navigation systems, arrange music files, and track the weather. A basic feature of a system that allows you to download software is that it usually supports formats such as Java or Flash. With these basic formats in place, you can download almost anything if there is enough memory to support it.

Mechanical components have outlived the industrial era and have been an integral element of computers since their inception. Hard drives were typically comprised of several moving parts, but now it is becoming more commonplace to find drives with no moving parts. These are solid state, as are many other components of electronics. Even LED lights are solid state. This means that there is just a single piece that performs a specific operation. In electronics, these solid state chips rely on software alone to do what they are intended to do.

To add functions, software can be downloaded, oftentimes wirelessly over the Internet, to add capabilities to the device. One example is with Android devices. You can add apps to these mobile computers. Companies can even develop software that allows employees to access proprietary business systems from anywhere in the world. Software technologies have extended unlimited possibilities for personal and business use.
